A Change of Name notification is generally required to be published in 2 newspapers in Guwahati. Ads2publish offers convenient 2-newspaper combo packages for this. Name Change Combo packages in Guwahati start from ₹850. In most cases, same-day or next-day publication is possible. If you complete your booking and upload your affidavit before 12 noon on a weekday, your ad can typically appear in print the following day.

There are a couple of exceptions worth knowing. Sunday editions have an earlier cut-off -most Guwahati newspapers close Sunday bookings by Friday afternoon, so don't leave a weekend publication to Saturday. Also, some newspapers require editorial approval of the affidavit before the ad goes to print, which can occasionally add a day. If your need is truly urgent, call us directly on +91-8121003003 and we'll tell you exactly what's possible for your chosen newspapers that day.

The only document you need is a notarized affidavit. You don't need to submit your Aadhaar, PAN card, or any other ID proof to Ads2Publish to place the ad.

The affidavit must include your current name, the new name you're adopting, your father's or husband's name, your age, and your full residential address in Guwahati. It must be signed in front of a notary or Oath Commissioner - a stamp and signature from a local notary office near any Guwahati district court will do. You'll upload a clear scanned copy or photo of the affidavit during or after the booking process.

One thing to check before you book: the affidavit must generally not be older than 6 months. If yours is older, get a fresh one made. It only costs ₹150–₹200 at a local notary in Guwahati and takes about 30 minutes.

For most official purposes in Guwahati - yes, two newspapers are required. The Passport Seva Kendra, most banks, and many government departments specifically ask for clippings from both a national English daily and a local language newspaper. This is their way of ensuring the name change has been publicly announced to a wide audience.

There are a few situations where one newspaper may be sufficient - for example, some private banks or employers may accept a single English newspaper. But to be safe and avoid any rejection or delay, publishing in two newspapers is always the right call. Our combo packages make this easy and affordable - starting from ₹525 for both papers.

Yes, absolutely. All Passport Seva Kendra offices in Guwahati require original newspaper clippings as proof of your public name change announcement. This applies whether you're reissuing your passport with a new name, correcting a spelling, or adding a surname after marriage.

The PSK requires original printed copies of the newspaper, not photocopies or digital printouts. Make sure you buy at least 4 to 5 physical copies on the day of publication. Along with the newspaper copies, you'll also need your original notarized affidavit. Most PSK offices in Guwahati do not require a Gazette notification for standard personal name changes - only government employees need this additionally.

On the day of publication, we'll send you a digital e-paper link by email so you can see and save a digital copy immediately. This is useful for your own records but is not accepted as official proof.

For the original printed copies, the only reliable way is to buy them from a local newsstand or newspaper vendor in your area of Guwahati on the morning of publication. We'd strongly suggest buying at least 4 to 5 copies - one for the passport office, one for your bank, one for any educational institution, and one or two to keep for yourself. If you wait a few days to buy them, back-dated copies are genuinely very hard to find in Guwahati. Plan ahead and buy them on the day itself.

A newspaper ad is one essential step in the legal name change process - but it isn't the only one. Here's the full picture for Guwahati residents:

• Step 1 - Notarized affidavit: This is the founding legal document for your name change. Everything else builds on it.
• Step 2 - Newspaper ad: Public announcement in two Guwahati newspapers. This is what you're booking here.
• Step 3 - Update your documents: Using the affidavit and newspaper clippings, apply separately to each authority - Passport Office, UIDAI for Aadhaar, Income Tax Department for PAN, your bank, your employer, and so on. Each has its own form and process.
• Step 4 - Gazette notification (if needed): Required for central government employees and some specific official records.

The newspaper ad doesn't automatically change anything - it's proof that you've made a public announcement, which each authority then uses as supporting documentation when you apply to them individually.

It depends on where the error came from. If the mistake was in your original affidavit text, you'll need to get a new affidavit prepared with the correct details and then republish the ad. Unfortunately there's no way around this - the ad must match the affidavit exactly.

If the error was introduced by the newspaper during printing - a typo or formatting mistake that wasn't in the text you submitted - you'll need to publish a Corrigendum advertisement. This is a short correction notice that references your original ad date and publication, and states the correct information. Government offices and the Passport Seva Kendra in Guwahati accept corrigendum ads as valid corrections. Call us and we'll help you book this quickly.
